An Unusual Diagnosis: Dr. Priya Jadeja Documents a Rare Pancreatic Cyst

Published in the Journal of the Pancreas, this case report details a complex case Dr. Jadeja encountered during her general surgery training at Cleveland Clinic Foundation (published under her maiden name, Priya Iyer). A 63-year-old man required total removal of his pancreas after imaging revealed the organ almost entirely replaced by innumerable cysts. Working alongside the Digestive Disease Institute's surgical and pathology teams, Dr. Jadeja helped manage a case that combined a rare, benign cystic tumor with areas of higher-risk, precancerous changes scattered throughout the gland.

The case added to a small but growing body of evidence that this type of diffuse cystic tumor should be considered a true neoplasm rather than an incidental finding, and that complete surgical removal may be warranted when the disease is widespread. The report reflects the depth of complex abdominal surgery training that underlies Dr. Jadeja's approach to patient care today.
