Darren Sultan, MD

Hand & Upper Extremity Surgeon
Board Certified in Plastic Surgery, Fellowship Trained in Hand Surgery

Dr. Darren Sultan is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery. His practice covers the full range of hand, wrist, and upper extremity care, including fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, arthritis, compression syndromes such as carpal and cubital tunnel, brachial plexus injuries, and complex reconstruction after trauma or prior surgery. He also has a particular interest in peripheral nerve surgery and targeted muscle reinnervation for patients living with chronic pain or limb loss.

Dr. Sultan earned his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine in New York. He completed his plastic surgery residency at Northwell Health, where he trained across a broad range of reconstructive and aesthetic procedures with a focus on microsurgery and complex extremity care. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in hand surgery at the University of Southern California, in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, working alongside leaders in the field on trauma, nerve, and reconstructive cases.

Throughout his training, Dr. Sultan has stayed active in academic medicine. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Annals of Plastic Surgery, and the Journal of Hand Microsurgery, with research spanning microsurgical breast reconstruction, tissue oximetry monitoring, wound healing, and clinical care models for hand surgery at trauma centers. He has presented at national meetings including Plastic Surgery The Meeting and the annual conference of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.

Dr. Sultan takes a straightforward, patient-first approach to care. He believes patients do best when they understand their condition and their options, and he takes time to walk through what is going on, what to expect, and the plan that fits their goals.
