Featured Publication: The Rise of Hand Injuries in Low- & Middle-Income Countries

Our surgeon, Dr. Zuhaib Ibrahim recently published an article entitled “Hand injuries in low-and middle-income countries: systematic review of existing literature and call for greater attention,” in the journal, Public Health.

The article takes an in-depth look at the rise of hand injuries in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) and why these injuries pose a number of problems in developing countries. Hands, often taken for granted, are an essential part of our everyday lives, allowing us to perform countless menial and complex tasks.

This article takes a look at the relationship between rapid industrialization and hand injuries, highlighting how barriers to occupational health and effective treatments may increase the burden of hand injuries in LMICs.
