The Plastic Surgery Center of New Jersey and the Institute for Advanced Reconstruction honor Breast Cancer Awareness this month by telling our stories. These are the stories of the women we treat, and our surgeons, who provide them with vital service in the area of breast reconstruction following cancer surgery.
Patient Discusses Undergoing Tram Flap Procedure
Meet Beverly. Beverly was diagnosed with breast cancer in January, 2012. She had a Tram flap procedure, which she describes as “the epitome of recycling.” In this procedure, surgeons at the Institute for Advanced Reconstruction at The Plastic Surgery Center took her abdominal fat to breast her left breast. As a result, Beverly says, she now has “a breast where there had not been one.” See Beverly’s own video testimony below.
