In a study published in Urology, Alex J. Xu, MD, and colleagues describe a novel robotic-assisted technique for repairing parastomal hernias that develop after ileal conduit urinary diversion, including early use of the single-port robotic system. The approach uses just two small incisions while allowing surgeons to safely address adhesions and reinforce the repair with mesh, offering patients a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery. Dr. Xu's work continues to push the boundaries of robotic reconstructive urology.
